We just loved this place.

We traveled all around Yucatan on our honeymoon and Merida was the best.

We stayed in the most extravagant room (master suite 112), lots of space and a king sized- bed, original tile floors and colonial décor, huge delightful private bathroom with tub. It was great; I could curl up on the sofa on the terrace and read all night long! It was always quite and relaxing. I’d rather die than go to Merida and stay at a huge impersonal chain-ugh! The suite was about $ 200 and worth it. We ate breakfast there everyday but ate other meals out.

Go on the weekend, the downtown plaza comes alive, they close down the streets, It- so fun, such a nice little city. Casa del Balam is two blocks away from the plaza. Our room was quite because it was over the pool. I suspect the rooms over the street are louder, Staff was nice, we really had no complaints.
