Before this was a hotel the family managed a travel agency named “Mérida Travel Service”?.
Don Fernando Barbachano pioneer of tourism and father of Ms. Carmen Barbachano Gomez- Rul, was nicknamed “Balam” (Mayan word for jaguar) for his sharp visionary business mind?.
El Hotel Casa del Balam Has an advantageous location, situated two blocks from the Main Square or Plaza Grande in the heart of the Historic Center, near the Jose Peón Contréras Theater and the University of Yucatan.
From the Airport: Turn right at the airport exit onto Avenida Itzaes. Continue north to Calle 59. Turn right on Calle 59 to Calle 60. Turn left on Calle 60 and Hotel Casa del Balam is at the next intersection, on the far right corner.
From Cancun: Take the Carretera to Merida. As you pass the Periferico upon entering Merida, continue straight on Calle 65. Turn right on Calle 60 and proceed past the Plaza Grande. Hotel Casa del Balam will be on the far right corner of Calle 60 and Calle 57.
